Practice Starts! and Wax Clinic #2

Wow I can't believe it has been a whole month! The new snowboard season has started and I have already logged 11 days. I hope you all have been making your first tracks.

Practice starts next week!
Last Wednesday, Keystone opened up Area 51 with 30 rails and 7 jumps!
If you have free time during the week, hop in the team van with Pat A and go shred the new snow and jibs.
No more trampoline or skate practice but I would definitely still be down to go to Jumpstreet on a slow night if I get bored. Let me know!

Wax Night Dec 1 @ Satellite Boardshop
After the last successful wax night, Satellite and CUST are hosting another wax night on Wednesday, Dec 1 at 7:00pm. Come mingle and check out the shops deals. Pat and Raul will be teaching us how to use P-Tex to fix any cuts your board may have from pre or post-season shreds. I don't know if any of you have seen my board.... but it needs all the tune-up it can get.
Check out the facebook event
There will be Redbull and Neuro.

Ok, so for those of you who did not know anything about it, this weekend the Colorado Christian University hosted the SFC rail jam. They had a sick down rail and a flat down rail set up and it felt SO GOOD to be back 0n the snow.
Team rider, Joey Dryer, took first place and we couldn't be more excited for him. He took home a whole new outerwear set up, some hats, and gift cards.

Check out the edit Higher State Productions put together

SNOW and Stept Productions' film, NetWork

One word.... SNOW!

I am hearing rumors that Arapahoe Basin will be opening the weekend of the 22nd. And then I have been hearing this Friday! I don't know if I quite believe that, but wishful thinking... What are your predictions?

Check out these pictures from Als Blog on A-Bays website.

NetWork is Thursday Oct 14
7:00pm in Math 100. $5

I cannot tell you how excited I am for this premier!

Last year Hathbanger got the entire lecture hall up on their feet dancing. I remember it was the first time I had ever heard Biggie mashed with Miley Cyrus... and I was a little confused and very surprised. It became one of the sickest party songs for the next few weeks, you couldn't go to a single party with out hearing it.

How We Livin' was my favorite film I saw last year, the one that best prepared me for the new season. It was also the first time I ever heard Sierra Leone... We all know about Sierra Leone. Such a banger song... the perfect one for Nick Martini's nearly 3 minute part.
And who didn't ride with that song on their playlist last season? Anyone?
Their riding ability is unmatched, the team is stacked with all of the best Boulder riders, our own peers. I bet you could snag some autographs Thursday if you want, as well as some sweet NetWork shirts.
NetWork NetWork NetWork! It is finally here, this Thursday!
What better time could NetWork premier? Snow has just started falling and everyone is holding their breath in anticipation for A-Basin to announce their opening day.
This year, Hathbanger, S'ur o vie and Berryhill will be DJing, and they are expected to get the entire place dancing again.
The Stept crew went to IF3 to receive Best Amateur Film of the year, Boulder's own, makin' it big time! Come to show your support and congratulate the crew.
Check out the trailer, get stoked, show up early! It will sell out!
It is the "biggest on campus party of the year" says Alex Martini.
I just want to make it clear... YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS IT!

See you all there!!!

Also, I have been working with Pat Milbery from So-Gnar. We are creating a limited edition Snowboard Team/So-Gnar fitted hat, FOR ONLY $20!!
Come to the meeting and talk to me about reserving your size and I will hook it up.
Skate practice tomorrow! More information at the meeting tonight.

Stoked for the season!

CUST Double Feature
So, last Sunday Lani and I were doing the final touches to the CUST edit before it premiered on Monday, it definitely wasn't ready yet... but then I got a phone call from a new team member, Colton, saying they were going to hit his friends new dry land set up.

So of course, Lani and I grabbed her cameras, our boards, and boots, and cruised over. Let me tell you, that thing was well built, but sketchy... Carpet with construction fencing over it to make it slick.

o

The next night was the premier, featuring our team edit and Four Reel Media's 2010 movie, Dub Reel. We almost packed the house and everyone had a great time, not to mention it was Lani's birthday! Our media director.

The board all wore their new shirts, and we are really starting to bring the team together and tying up all the loose ends.

The event was also sponsored by Neuro Drinks, and everyone got a free drink as they walked in. Let me tell you... those drinks are delicious, each with their own function. I tried the Neuro Gasm (of course) which is supposed to stimulate blood flow and make you feel great.

I couldn't believe how many people showed up, and for all of you who couldn't make it, you really missed out.
It was definitely a party in Chem 140.

The Reunion
On Wednesday, Satellite Boardshop hosted the Reunion, one of the biggest annual premiers we have in Boulder. They are known for great films and an awesome product toss.
The Technine movie was amazing, with stereotypical sagging pants and tall tees, definitely a movie you need to check out if you didn't make it to the premier.
Our own team member, freshman Alexander, won MFM's full set up, and we couldn't have been more stoked for him!
Thursday, following the premier, was the start of the Reunion Sale. Featuring unrivaled steals and deals on last years equipment. The team got VIP entry, as every year, and got to check out all the gear before anyone else. I walked out with the tightest Special Blend jacket and didn't even burn a hole in my pocket. Stoked.
The sale lasted throught the 3rd and if you guys were dumb enough to miss it, don't worry, Satellite still has a few sale items left over. Cruise to the shop and check out their sale rack, there are some pretty sick hoodies, shirts, and jackets. You might be able to find something you want, if anything is left!

Sup Bro? and Cheers
Last night, Sierra, Colton, and I ventured down to the Gothic Theatre in Denver for the Sup Bro? and Cheers premier, hosted by 720 Boardshop.
The night started off with the 720 boys showing the SICKEST skateboard trailer I have seen in a while, I will see if I can get a link to put it up on the blog. Rich Schiffer and those guys are just such savages at skating. Then Echo showed their film, Echodemic, with team Alumni Seth Hill killing it.
Sup Bro?, featuring 45 of the tighest riders Colorado knows, also including Seth Hill. I swear, it had the most double corks I have ever seen in a movie! Definitely check it out, this Colorado film is definitelty one of the most epic ones I have ever seen and it is really cool to know some of the riders up on the big screen!
Then there was the biggest product toss I have seen of all the 2010 movie premiers. With product from Candygrind, Echo, Epic apparel, Yea.Nice, and more. Everyone got pretty aggressive and rowdy, it was great.
Stept Network is OCT 14!!!
I am seriously counting down the days until Stept premiers this years video Network. Last year, the Stept premier was the best one I attended.... and you would have to be an absolute idiot to miss it! Check out the facebook event page and make sure to get there early because it WILL SELL OUT!
It is only 5 dollars, in Math 100, mark your calendars, THIS IS SOMETHING YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS! Tell your friends, tell your siblings, tell your mom and dad. Can't wait!!!

Colorado, please let it snow today :)

Skate Practice & Colorado Daily Cover Page!

Happy Friday!

The First Skate Practice
On Monday, the teamsters headed out to Broomfield skatepark for the first skate practice this year. Skate coach Steve Pleines drove the team van full of 12 riders to the park, including 3 beginners.

The Broomfield skatepark is full of fun boxes and bowls, the team spent a good 3 hours hitting all the features and practiced our filming and photography.

We practiced follow cams and worked with different angles to produce the best footage, and next skate practice we will begin actual filming for our skate edit. If you are wanting to be in the edit, or learn how to skate, come to skate practice! The next practice will be announced at the next meeting.

Everyone had a great time, but there was one injury. Of course, it was me... who else?

I decided to pick a fight with a mini ramp and lost. Landed on my hand and hyper-extended my elbow. Like a champ. Here is a picture from 3 days later, the bruise is a bit healed up but still pretty gnarly.

TONIGHT is the MAGIC MOVIE and BACK TO THE BONEYARD movie premier
7:00pm in Math 100 for only 5 bucks be there!

Snowboard on the Rocks

Let me recap the event for those of you who were unfortunate enough to miss it.

Snowboard on the Rocks made history Friday night, taking over Red Rocks for the first time ever! The night consisted of crazy shenanigans, with live performances from Bukue One, London Dungeon, DEL, and the Cool Kids! Not to mention movies from three great production companies, Standard Films, Think Thank, and Colorado's own Never Summer.

This whole event was put on by four of the coolest people I know, Adam Schmidt, Andrew Heard, Carissa Bisnar, and Pat Milbery, but they couldn't have done it with out the huge support group and dozens of people willing to help out. Congratulations on a successful event!

The team started off the night with an awesome BBQ at Sam Bell's house. Everyone was there, and it was a great opportunity to meet all the other teamsters before we headed off to the show.

We had the COOLEST bus driver ever, Mike Alan, who transported 37 members to Red Rocks. Yes, we rode a school bus to Red Rocks. Badass.

"Y'all were a dope ass group" Mike told me later.

The bus ride was awesome, full of rowdy kids stoked to see this ground-breaking event.

When CUST arrived, everyone snagged a spot in the front 5 rows of the venue, a prime location to watch the premiers.

It was pretty crazy to be able to walk down any of the first 5 rows and run in to a bunch of CUST members. We took over! During the musical acts, everyone was dancing and singing along - even if they didn't know the words. A sea of hands bounced to the beat with over 6,000 people in the venue; it was UNREAL.

Lani and I got to hang out back stage which was really cool. We even got to watch skate coach Steve Pleines in Never Summer's MIA from behind the screen, so everything played backwards. With The Cool Kids of course. Kind of a big deal.

Steve asked me later, "Did you see me on the big screen??" He could barely contain his excitement.
He said, "It was really rewarding to see myself as a rider in front of all those people. Especially to be associated with some of the bigger names like Ryan Cruze and Cooper Hoffmeister."
We couldn't be more stoked for him.

After MIA, Think Thanks film Right Brain, Left Brain played. Pat Milbery and the crew slayed on the big screen. Pat sat out in the crowd so he could watch his part, backstage we could hear his excited voice over the radio.
Pat told me, "Watching my video part at Red Rocks was one of the coolest feelings I have experienced yet. Especially after all the hard work it takes to put a video part together that you are proud to be [a] representative of. Thanks for all the support Colorado!"
And of course, I got to meet my idol, snowboarding legend Torstein Horgmo aka Mr. Triple Cork! He was a little underspoken on stage, but that didn't mean that everyone wasn't hanging on every word he said. You could definitely see the vast amounts of respect everyone else on stage had for him as they watched him speak to the crowd.

Torstein introduced Standard Films, The Storming, and all we could do was watch the huge screen with awe. I was absolutely blown away by his raw talent and pure skill... and the crowd was nearly silent at the end of his video part, in anticipation of the first triple cork caught on film in snowboarding history.
I think the show prepared everyone for the 2010-2011 season, this season is going to be the best yet. The crew was ready to head back to Boulder, but not before a potty break!

The bus ride back echoed with CUST members sharing their stories from the show, and discussing what their favorite parts were.

Overall, the event was breath taking, and CUST was glad to take part in it. For all of you that missed it, this event marked the first of many snowboarding events to take place at Red Rocks, one of the best venues in the world. So there is always next year...

In other news...
TONIGHT is the first Skate Practice with our own big screen celebrity Steve Pleines. Come get his autograph, haha.
We are meeting at Satellite at 6pm, and carpooling over to the Longmont skatepark. The lights stay on until 10pm so expect to be back in Boulder by 10:30pm, if not earlier.
Any questions contact Steve or myself. See you tonight!

It is the start of a great year! Can't wait for more fun times.
